The 2021 Formula One season was the 10th Formula One championship contested over 16 circuits in as many countries. Williams–BMW won the constructor's and engine's championship in stunning fashion, with 11 out of 16 victories. Lewis Hamilton also scored his second championship, and first with Williams, and achieved it without finishing lower than second in the second half of the season.

Team changes[edit | edit source]
- Mercedes withdraws. The Mercedes AMG company decided to disband its Formula 1 team due to the financial strain it put on the company. Its assets were auctioned off, though no buyer wishes to continue running the team. The company claims it was aiming to be fighting for championships at this stage. The two drivers, who both had a year left on their contract, were left without a drive. They were both hired as test drivers on other teams, however.
- Williams resigns with BMW for a further 9 years, with the deal set to end for the 2030 season.
- EADS: Team Aethra EADS → Team EADS, resigns with BMW. The engine deal is set to end for 2026.
- Marussia: Marussia → BMW engines. BMW also signs a 5-year deal with Marussia, when their engine projects merge.
- Ford resigns Lotus until the end of the 2022 season – the same expiration date as Caterham's deal.
- Honda resigns Minardi until the end of the 2023 season.
