The 2022 Formula One season was the 11th Formula One championship contested over 16 circuits in as many countries. It saw Williams–BMW continue to dominate by winning both the constructor and engine titles consecutively, but this time, runner-up of 2021, Nico Rosberg, won the driver's title

Team changes[edit | edit source]
- Marussia F1 Team → Animcom Toyota Formula. Toyota purchased a majority stake in the Marussia F1 Team, 80%. They signed a five-year deal with Anicom, Japanese insurance company, and are also using their own engine, developed over the past few years.
- Sauber: Ferrari → Toyota engines. Sauber was announced as Toyota's customer team, despite them being a front-runner and supposed Ferrari B-team. The deal was to last until the end of the 2024 season.
- Hyundai: Ferrari → Honda engines. Ferrari also lost Hyundai to Japanese engine manufacturer Honda, leaving them as the second engine manufacturer with no customers, alongside Renault. The deal was only to last one year, in time for the progress review by Honda, when all current engine customer deals will expire for review. Posocos is also resigned as title sponsor for a further five years.

- Gorou Kurosawa: Hyundai test driver → Toyota full driver.
- Federico Piazza: Marussia/Toyota full driver → test driver.
- Jean-Eric Vergne: Williams test driver → EADS full driver.
- Nino Magro: EADS full driver → test driver.
